Tag Archives: 2013 Recruiting Class

By: Mike Bohlin

This just came across my Twitter timeline and is massive news for the Hoyas basketball program. Stephen Domingo, who up until today had been the Hoyas first commitment in the class of 2013, has decided to graduate early and enroll at Georgetown University for the 2012-2013 school year. Must give credit to @PremierBall for breaking this story earlier this morning.

Domingo, who has been impressing with the Team USA U-17 team this summer helping them defeat Spain to win the gold medal over the weekend, caught a flight to Washington D.C. last night from Las Vegas, NV. Since Domingo has completed all the core credits needed to enroll at Georgetown he has chosen, with his parents blessing, to follow in the footsteps of former Hoyas star Hollis Thompson and forego the traditional High School graduation ceremony in order to get to Georgetown to play a year sooner. Both parents feel their son is ready to compete athletically as well as academically at the next level.

Domingo has made quite a name for himself nationally this summer. As I pointed out on our Twitter feed, @TheDCDime for those of you who are not yet following us, Domingo was recently rated by 247Sports as a 5-star recruit and the number 17 player in the class of 2013. By graduating early and enrolling in Georgetown this fall Domingo will join the Hoyas 2012 recruiting class that, up until now, had been headlined by former Oak Hill Academy PG D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera.

Domingo is a 6-7 wing who is known for his ability to make tough jumpers from the perimeter. Since he just recently turned 17 years old there is no telling how much more he could grow between now and the conclusion of his Hoyas career. He should be able to come in and immediately fill the void that was left by Hollis Thompson when he decided to forego his senior year at Georgetown and enter the NBA Draft.

More details to follow as they come out but this is certainly a reason for Hoyas fans everywhere to rejoice. Here is hoping that we get the opportunity to see Domingo join the rest of the Hoyas in the Kenner League at some point this summer.
